Seventh Long-Duration Training Course for JCOs and Equivalent Officers of Indian Armed Forces Concludes at Palampur Agriversity
10 October 2026, Palampur: The seventh 16 week training course on “Agroforestry, Mushroom Cultivation, Bee keeping and Goatry” for Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) and equivalent officers of the Indian Armed Forces concluded today at Chaudhary Sarvan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Agriculture University (CSKHPKV), Palampur. A total of 29 participants, including 28 from the Indian Army and one from the Indian Navy, completed the course, which commenced on June 22, 2026.
Prof. Janardan Singh, Director of Extension Education (DEE), CSKHPKV, was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony and distributed certificates to the participants. Addressing the gathering, he emphasised the importance of continuous learning and skill development in enhancing professional capabilities. He encouraged the participants to make effective use of the knowledge and practical skills acquired during the training and apply them in their future endeavours. He also highlighted the university’s commitment to capacity building through need-based training programmes for personnel from different sectors.
The programme was attended by Dr. Vinod Sharma, Director of Research; Dr. Jai Dev, Students’ Welfare Officer (SWO); Dr. Sonia Sood, Associate Director of Extension Education; Dr. B. N. Sinha; Dr. Suman Kumar; Dr. Lav Bhushan; and Dr. Brij Vanita.
During the ceremony, participants shared their feedback and experiences from the training programme. Sub Jai Karan, Subedar (Honorary Lieutenant) Himal Pun from the Indian Army, and Petty Officer Marine Engineering (PO ME) Rajat Dhiman from the Indian Navy shared their experiences and expressed their views on the course.
The training programme provided an opportunity for the participating defence personnel to enhance their knowledge and practical skills through structured learning at the university. The concluding ceremony marked the successful completion of the course and acknowledged the efforts of the participants and the faculty involved in the training.
