HELM AG is a Hamburg-based, family-owned global chemicals and agriculture company founded in 1900. The company operates through three principal business areas: Chemicals, Crop Solutions, and Energy Materials, with more than 100 branches across over 30 countries. HELM reported €4.7 billion in turnover in 2025, with Crop Solutions accounting for 39% of total turnover.

Its Crop Solutions business provides products and technologies spanning crop protection, crop nutrition, and digital agriculture. The crop protection portfolio includes herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, and growth regulators, while its crop nutrition business covers solid, liquid and specialty fertilizers. HELM also develops digital farming solutions, including SKYFLD, and works with technology partners in areas such as soil health and biological crop solutions.

HELM has been expanding its focus on biological and sustainable agricultural solutions. In February 2026, the company completed its full acquisition of Unium Biosciences, strengthening its biologicals platform and strategy for next-generation crop production solutions. The company also holds a majority stake in Plantix, the AI-powered plant-disease diagnosis platform, reflecting its broader interest in digital agriculture.

HELM has also reshaped its European crop protection business. In 2025, it divested its European classic chemical plant-protection assets to CAC Nantong Chemical, while stating that its European Crop Solutions strategy would increasingly focus on Crop Nutrition, Digital Solutions, and HELM Plant Advantage®, covering soil health, crop development and crop defense.
