Verdesian Life Sciences Celebrates Earth Day and National Volunteer Week with Hands-On Support at North Carolina State University’s Agroecology Education Farm
12 May 2026, Cary: In recognition of Earth Day and National Volunteer Week, Verdesian Life Sciences (“Verdesian”), a global leader in Nutrient Use Efficiency (“NUE”) technologies, recently partnered with North Carolina State University’s (“NC State”) Agroecology Education Farm for a hands-on volunteer initiative focused on soil health, agricultural education, and community engagement.
Verdesian team members spent the day working alongside the farm team, contributing to projects across the site, including weeding crop rows, transplanting rose bushes, planting marigolds to support pollinators, and creating crop signage. The experience offered a close look at a farm that uses organic practices and relies on natural systems – such as cover cropping and pollinator activity – to manage common agricultural challenges.
“At Verdesian, we’re committed to supporting the communities where we live and work,” said Susan Barnes Waldo, Vice President, Global Human Resources. “Spending time in the field alongside dedicated teams like the one at NC State allows our team members to engage directly with the people and practices shaping the future of agriculture. It reinforces the importance of soil health, experiential learning, and investing in the next generation of agricultural leaders.”
Located on NC State’s campus, just a few miles from Verdesian’s headquarters in Cary, the Agroecology Education Farm serves as both a working farm and a living classroom. Students use the space to test agricultural concepts, bring class projects to life, and gain hands-on experience in a real-world environment. Much of the produce grown on-site is distributed to NC State dining halls and the campus food pantry, connecting organic farming practices with the University.
The volunteer effort reflects Verdesian’s broader commitment to strengthening agricultural systems and expanding access to new learning opportunities. Through its partnership with the Agroecology Education Farm, the company is helping bring these principles to life in a real-world setting.
