Arevo Reports Corn Yield Results From Reduced-Nitrogen Field Trials
30 September 2026, Sweden: Arevo has released results from independent field trials evaluating its Arginex Corn seed treatment under different nitrogen and fertiliser regimes in Europe and South America.
The trials were conducted in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland and Brazil during 2024 and 2025 by independent contract research organisations. The studies included different soil pH levels and soil textures and used replicated, multi-treatment factorial trial designs.
In a 2025 European trial, corn treated with Arginex recorded up to 4.3% higher grain yield with a 30% reduction in standard nitrogen fertiliser. The result was statistically significant compared with full-rate standard practice.
Other trials recorded grain yields comparable with full-rate standard practice when nitrogen was reduced by 30% and Arginex was used as a seed treatment.

Trials in South America also examined reductions in nitrogen and phosphorus. Across three sites, the full fertiliser programme was matched with 40% less nitrogen and phosphorus. The treatment effect was reported as statistically significant at each site, with p<0.001.
When Arginex was applied alongside full standard fertiliser rates, the trials recorded an average 3.4% increase in grain yield, with an increase of up to 3.8% at one site.
The trials also included silage corn. Whole-plant biomass increased by up to 4.7% with a 25% reduction in nitrogen. The studies reported no effect on germination and recorded increases in plant height of up to 8%.
Arevo said the trials were designed to evaluate the treatment under different nutrient rates and growing conditions. The company said the results indicate that the seed treatment can be used both with reduced fertiliser rates and alongside standard fertiliser programmes.
“Farming is unpredictable. Arginex is not,” said Niklas Åström, CEO of Arevo. “Because Arginex is a non-living, single-compound formula, every batch contains the exact same molecule. The data show it consistently improves yield and nitrogen use efficiency – more crop per unit of nitrogen, season after season.”
Arginex Corn combines arginine with phosphate in a slow-release complex. According to Arevo, plants take up the compound without prior mineralisation. The company describes the product as a non-microbial formulation with a long shelf life that is stable on seed and compatible with standard seed-treatment programmes.
Arevo also said the arginine component supports soil biology, including mycorrhizal fungi, and contributes to root development during early crop growth.
