Elders Celebrates Official Opening Of New Cranbrook Branch
07 October 2026, AU: Building on more than 100 years of service in Cranbrook, the new development has been designed to support the region’s growing cropping industry. It provides expanded capacity, modern infrastructure and enhanced services for local producers.
The facility was developed to meet stringent licensing and safety requirements, including the storage and handling of crop protection products. The site features four licensed warehouses with capacity to store up to 400,000 litres of product. This ensures local growers have reliable access to the inputs and services they need throughout the season.
Elders Operations and Support Specialist WA, John Gilmour, who was also Project Manager for the development, said sustainability features were prioritised throughout the project.
“We’ve installed solar panels on the facility, rainwater harvesting systems, an electric forklift and an electric vehicle charging station. We’ve also got dedicated water storage for firefighting, which is particularly important in regional areas where water availability and pressure can be limited,” John said.
“We’ve worked closely with the Shire of Cranbrook throughout the project and have built a real partnership with the local community.”
“Rainwater collected from one of our warehouse roofs is directed into community-owned tanks, creating an additional water source that can be accessed during times of drought or emergency.”
Beyond the infrastructure investment, the branch also includes an agronomy laboratory and livestock faecal testing capabilities. This enables farmers to identify parasite issues, make informed animal health decisions and access tailored advice from local experts.
Cranbrook Branch Manager Dan Barbour said the investment reflects both the growth of the region and Elders’ confidence in its future.
“Our Cranbrook branch has been part of this community for more than a century, and this investment reflects our confidence in the region and the people who live and work here,” Dan said.
“A lot of hard work has gone into this project over the past 18 months. It’s been a real team effort involving our branch team, Elders support teams, contractors and local partners, and we’re proud of what we’ve achieved together.”
“We believe there are tremendous opportunities ahead for Cranbrook and the Great Southern. Our role is to ensure local producers have the people, expertise and support they need to make the most of them.”
Elders General Manager Western Region Matt Ericsson said the new branch demonstrates Elders’ enduring commitment to regional communities.
“We are deeply connected to the Cranbrook community and understand that being part of a rural community means contributing to it. That has defined Elders for generations. We live in these communities, work in them and invest in them,” Matt said.
