The World Food Prize Foundation Appoints Manager II of Administration Operations and Communications
20 August 2026, US: The World Food Prize Foundation announced today the appointment of David Geiger as Manager II, Administration Operations and Communications. As Manager II, Geiger will provide high-level support to the Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer and President, helping coordinate executive priorities and strengthen organizational communications.
Geiger also will oversee the World Food Prize Podcast, manage production and help develop engaging conversations that advance the Foundation’s mission and reach new audiences.
“David brings a unique combination of agricultural knowledge, communications expertise and a proven ability to connect with leaders and audiences across the food and agriculture community,” said Tom Vilsack, CEO, World Food Prize Foundation. “His experience producing compelling stories and conversations, along with his strong understanding of the issues facing agriculture today, will be a tremendous asset as we continue to expand the reach and impact of the Foundation.”
Throughout his career, Geiger has built strong relationships with executives, researchers, producers, government officials, nonprofit leaders and agricultural organizations as an award-winning communications professional with years of experience in journalism, multimedia production and strategic communications.
“Over the last 13 years as a farm broadcaster, I’ve covered many Foundation events and always left inspired and impressed by the mission, the Laureates and their work.” Geiger said. “The community the Foundation has cultivated connects smart, generous and motivated people in the fight against global food insecurity by recognizing their achievements and advocating for solutions. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to support the World Food Prize Foundation and I’m excited to work with the team and community in Iowa and abroad.”
He has amassed an extensive track record of communicating complex agricultural, environmental, economic and policy issues to broad audiences. His career spans agricultural associations, corporations and media outlets, where he has produced executive interviews, podcasts, television programming, digital content and feature stories. He has been recognized nationally for excellence in journalism and has produced more than 5,000 television broadcasts and hundreds of radio and podcast episodes.
Geiger earned a bachelor’ s degree in journalism and mass communication from Iowa State University and won The Doan Award from the National Association of Farm Broadcasting in 2021.
