UPL’s Advanta to Acquire Egyptian Seed Company Hytech Egypt for $110 Million
18 August 2026, Mumbai: UPL Limited has announced that its step-down subsidiary, Advanta Holdings B.V. (Advanta BV), will acquire a 99.98% stake in Misr Hytech Seed International S.A.E. (Hytech Egypt), an Egyptian agricultural seeds company, for approximately US$110 million.
Hytech Egypt operates in the agricultural seeds sector and was incorporated on September 25, 1993. The company reported turnover of approximately US$25.7 million in FY2025, compared with US$37.6 million in FY2024 and US$34.9 million in FY2023. The financial year runs from September to August.
UPL said the acquisition is a strategic platform investment that will give Advanta an immediate position in Egypt’s white and yellow corn seed market, described by the company as one of the largest and fastest-growing seed markets in the Middle East and Africa.
Hytech Egypt is controlled by Hytech Egypt USA LLC (Hytech USA), which is the holding company being acquired by Advanta BV to complete the transaction.
Following completion, Advanta BV will hold 99.98% of Hytech Egypt. The transaction is expected to be completed on or before January 31, 2027, subject to customary closing conditions and required regulatory approvals.
The acquisition requires anti-trust approvals from the COMESA Competition and Consumer Commission and the Egyptian Competition Authority.
The consideration will be paid in cash and is approximately US$110 million, subject to the terms of the Equity Purchase Agreement, including closing adjustments.
Advanta is part of UPL’s Seeds and Post Harvest segment. UPL Limited effectively holds a 78.21% shareholding in Advanta Enterprises Limited, under which Advanta BV operates.
