Misr Hytech Seed, known by its Hytech brand, is an Egypt-based research-driven seed company founded in 1993 and headquartered in Cairo. The company develops, produces, and markets hybrid seeds for White Corn, Yellow Corn, Grain Sorghum, Fodder Sorghum/Sudan Grass, Sweet Corn, and vegetables. It has more than 30 years of experience and focuses on developing hybrids adapted to Egyptian and wider African and Middle Eastern agro-climatic conditions.
Hytech’s R&D activities include plant breeding, genetic analysis, DNA sequencing, multi-location field trials, disease and stress-tolerance testing, and performance evaluation. The company operates research stations in Egypt and maintains seed processing and conditioning capabilities covering parent-seed multiplication, production, quality testing, packaging, storage, and distribution. Its portfolio currently includes 7 corn varieties, 4 grain sorghum varieties, 2 Sudan grass varieties, and 7 vegetable types.
The company is also expanding its focus beyond Egypt, with proprietary germplasm and breeding programmes aimed at Africa and the Middle East.
