World Food Safety Day / Weeklong Community Based Awareness For Food Safety

24 June 2026, US: Over the years, the HACCP Academy Nigeria (HAN) has commemorated World Food Safety Day through a unique week-long national engagement model designed to take food safety awareness beyond a single-day event and into communities, institutions, businesses, schools, markets, places of worship, and food production environments.

This year’s campaign focused on practical solutions to some of Nigeria’s pressing food safety challenges, including poor food handling practices, foodborne illnesses, inadequate food safety education, and limited stakeholder engagement.

Campaign activities this year included:

Day 1 – Abattoir food safety outreach
Engagement with meat handlers and processors on hygienic slaughtering and safe meat handling practices.
