World Food Safety Day / Cameroon Promotes Food Safety Through Community Action
09 June 2026, Rome: To celebrate World Food Safety Day 2026, the Association for the Fight Against Food Unsanitariness in Cameroon (ALIAC) organized a series of awareness-raising activities in Douala under the theme “Food Safety: Science in Action – From Burden to Solutions: Safe Food for All.”
A highlight of the celebrations was a public awareness sports walk on 7 June, which brought together community members, health professionals, students and partners to promote food safety and healthy lifestyles. The event was complemented by food safety education sessions, free diabetes and hypertension screening, nutrition counselling and community outreach activities.
Through these initiatives, ALIAC aimed to increase public awareness of food safety, encourage healthy eating practices and contribute to reducing the burden of foodborne diseases in Cameroon.
