Albaugh Receives U.S. EPA Registration for Pyraxol SC Herbicide
19 August 2026, Iowa: Albaugh has received registration from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for Pyraxol SC herbicide (EPA Reg. No. 83100-91), expanding the company’s herbicide portfolio with a pyroxasulfone-based product for residual weed control.
Pyraxol™ SC belongs to Group 15 of the herbicide classification and contains pyroxasulfone, a preemergence active ingredient used for residual control of annual weeds, including resistant biotypes. The active ingredient is effective at relatively low use rates compared with several other Group 15 herbicides.
The herbicide is designed to control annual grasses, sedges and key annual broadleaf weeds, including waterhemp and Palmer amaranth. According to Albaugh, pyroxasulfone is also active against weed populations resistant to ACCase inhibitors, ALS inhibitors and glyphosate.
Pyraxol™ SC can be used across crops including corn, cotton and soybeans. Albaugh said the product provides crop selectivity when applied according to label directions and under normal environmental conditions.
“Pyraxol™ SC is a significant and long-awaited addition to the Albaugh portfolio,” said Andy Bogue, Albaugh U.S. Sales Director – Crop Protection. “As weed resistance continues to challenge growers, pyroxasulfone has proven itself as one of the leading active ingredients in the Group 15 herbicide category. Pyraxol™ SC gives growers an alternative, trusted source of pyroxasulfone that delivers the strong residual weed control and performance that they’ve come to expect in a post-patent solution.”
Bogue added that the registration reflects Albaugh’s focus on providing cost-effective weed-management options as resistance becomes more widespread and weed-control programs become increasingly complex.
Pyraxol™ SC is expected to be available through authorized Albaugh distributors, subject to final state registrations.
