Mahindra Begins Production of MAXSEEDER Zero-Till Seeding Machine
12 October 2026, Mumbai: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. has commenced commercial production and supply of MAXSEEDER, a precision zero-till, multi-crop seeding machine manufactured under licence from Canada-based Clean Seed Technologies.
Designed for crops including rice, wheat, soybean, maize and cotton, MAXSEEDER enables direct sowing into paddy residue, offering an alternative to stubble burning. Its precision technology is designed to reduce seed wastage and fertiliser use while supporting water conservation and lower greenhouse gas emissions.
The machine is manufactured at Mahindra’s farm machinery plant in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh. Its rollout will begin through Mahindra Farm Equipment Business dealerships in Punjab and Haryana, followed by phased expansion across Indya.
Veejay Nakra – President, Farm Equipment Business, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said,“Mahindra is proud to partner with Clean Seed to deliver sustainable, mechanisation solutions to farmers world over. The patented and innovative ‘zero-till’, multi-crop seeding machine – the MaxSeeder, combined with Mahindra’s world-class manufacturing, ensures benefits for both farmers and the environment. The collaboration also underscores Clean Seed’s confidence in Mahindra’s capabilities and our shared commitment to advancing access to modern farm machinery globally, and in India, while showcasing Indian manufacturing excellence on the world stage.”
According to Mahindra, field trials in Punjab and Haryana demonstrated the machine’s ability to sow seeds in heavy paddy residue with minimal soil disturbance.
Compatible with tractors of 35 HP and above, MAXSEEDER features adjustable row spacing, multiple planting configurations and an electronic control unit for precision seed and fertiliser application. The machine is designed to reduce field preparation requirements, helping farmers save time, fuel and labour.
Graeme Lempriere, Chairman & CEO of Clean Seed Capital Group added, “Seeing our SMART Seeder MINI-MAX™ enter production at Mahindra is a proud milestone and a testament to years of innovation, collaboration and belief in our vision of delivering sustainable seeding and planting solutions for farmers in India and around the world. I am deeply impressed by Mahindra’s scale and manufacturing capabilities and inspired by the commitment and passion the Mahindra team has brought to this project.”
The collaboration combines Clean Seed Technologies’ precision seeding technology with Mahindra’s manufacturing capabilities to expand access to mechanised, resource-efficient farming solutions in India and international markets.
