UPL Albero Herbicide – Fluroxypyr + Picloram for Broadleaf and Woody Weed Control in Pastures

22 May 2026, New Delhi: Albero is a selective, systemic herbicide formulated with two active ingredients: Fluroxypyr meptyl (115 g/L) and Picloram (80 g/L). It is registered in Brazil for use in grass pastures for the post-emergence control of broadleaf weeds, including shrubby and semi-woody species.

Active Ingredients and Mode of Action

Both Fluroxypyr meptyl and Picloram belong to HRAC Group O (synthetic auxins / auxin mimics). They act by binding to auxin receptors in susceptible plants, disrupting normal growth regulation. This causes uncontrolled cell division and growth abnormalities that lead to plant death over days to weeks following application.

The combination of two Group O molecules broadens the spectrum of weeds controlled and reduces the likelihood of inadequate control due to tolerance in individual species.

Following foliar absorption, both active ingredients are translocated through the phloem to growing points, including roots and root meristems. This systemic translocation is particularly relevant for the control of perennial and deep-rooted weed species.

Registered Use

  • Crop: Grass pastures (gramíneas forrageiras)
  • Application timing: Post-emergence, with weeds actively growing
  • Note: Restrictions apply for the target species Mansoa difficilis – consult current label

Application Guidelines

  • Apply using ground boom sprayer or aerial equipment
  • Maintain a minimum buffer distance of 500 m from susceptible crops (cotton, tomato, beans) when applying by ground equipment
  • Do not apply during prolonged drought or when target plants are under water stress, as translocation may be reduced
  • Consult a licensed Agronomist for dose and timing recommendations specific to your region and weed species

Precautions

Picloram can persist in soil for extended periods and may affect sensitive crops planted in rotation. Consult the label for plant-back intervals before establishing susceptible crops after Albero application. Do not apply in areas with risk of runoff into water bodies.
