Syngenta Group China, McDonald’s China and McCain China Partner to Strengthen Sustainable Potato Supply Chain

25 June 2026, Beijing: Syngenta Group China has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with McDonald’s China and McCain China to advance sustainable potato production and strengthen the resilience of China’s potato supply chain. The agreement was announced during the 4th China International Supply Chain Expo.

The collaboration aims to improve potato farming, supply, and processing through the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices and digital technologies, supporting the production of potatoes used in McDonald’s French fries supply chain.

Under the pilot initiative, Syngenta Group China will evaluate science-based potato cultivation approaches focused on soil health, precision fertigation, crop stewardship, integrated pest management, intelligent field monitoring, and sustainable farming practices. The program will utilize the company’s agronomic solutions, digital agriculture platforms, and network of Modern Agriculture Platform (MAP) service centers.

Su Fu, President of Syngenta Group China, said the partnership reflects the need for agriculture to focus on resilience and resource efficiency while supporting farmer productivity and income. He noted that the initiative combines agricultural technologies and farming services to strengthen the potato value chain.

Jim Shi, Chief Supply Chain Officer of McDonald’s China, said the company’s focus on product quality begins at the farm level and that the partnership will support sustainable potato production while maintaining consistent supply and quality standards.

Liu Linlin, Managing Director of McCain China, said the collaboration builds on the longstanding relationship between McCain and McDonald’s in China and aims to support sustainable agricultural practices, farmer development, digital traceability, and quality assurance across the potato sector.

The three companies stated that the partnership will explore scalable solutions to improve sustainability and efficiency across China’s potato production and processing value chain.
