Amoéba is a French industrial greentech developing natural microbiological solutions based on the patented use of the amoeba Willaertia magna C2c Maky. The company’s technology has applications in plant protection, water treatment, and other environmental and health-related areas. In crop protection, Amoéba discovered that mechanically lysed Willaertia magna C2c Maky has strong antifungal properties against oomycetes and phytopathogenic fungi, including pathogens responsible for downy mildew, rusts and powdery mildew.

Amoéba’s flagship agricultural development is AXPERA, a next-generation biocontrol biofungicide based on the lysate of Willaertia magna C2c Maky. In June 2026, the company received marketing authorization for AXPERA in France, marking an important step toward commercialisation in Europe. Amoéba is working with Koppert on the commercial deployment of the technology for vineyard and vegetable crops.

The company has also significantly expanded its cereals strategy. In September 2026, Syngenta and Amoéba signed an exclusive supply and distribution agreement covering cereals in the European Union, United Kingdom, Ukraine and Switzerland, with first commercial launches targeted from 2028/29. The AXP20 formulation is being developed for diseases including Septoria tritici blotch and yellow rust in wheat, as well as other cereal diseases.
