Yara India Advances Last-Mile Traceability Through Retailer Ordering System (ROS)

09 April 2026, New Delhi: Yara India said it is expanding product traceability by onboarding a majority of its channel partners onto the Retailer Ordering System (ROS), part of its Yara Connect mobile application used by retailers and dealers. The system is intended to track product movement across the distribution network.

The company also said it is increasing research and development activity in biological inputs in response to rising demand and plans to add more products to its portfolio.

Yara India completed 15 years of operations in the country. The company said this reflects its engagement with farmers, institutions and government bodies, as well as its operational presence in the sector.

Over this period, Yara India has used manufacturing processes and digital advisory tools and has worked on soil-related programmes in collaboration with farmer producer organisations (FPOs), research institutions and government agencies.

In 2018, Yara acquired the Babrala urea facility, which it described as the largest standalone foreign direct investment in India’s regulated fertiliser sector. The plant supports production and distribution across multiple agricultural regions.

The company also reported logistics activities, including fertiliser movement through rail rake and vessel shipments.

Sanjiv Kanwar, Managing Director, Yara South Asia, said the company has worked with farmers, government agencies and industry stakeholders on agricultural practices and will continue to focus on input management and farm-level outcomes.

Arvinn Gagdil, Chargé d’Affaires and Deputy Ambassador at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in New Delhi, said cooperation between India and Norway has included engagement in agriculture through technology and farmer outreach.

Yara India marked the 15-year milestone with an event at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in New Delhi attended by government representatives, agricultural experts, industry participants and farmers. The programme included a compendium release, a brand film and a panel discussion on “India’s Agri GDP 2X Journey: Reimagining the Future of Farming.” Farmer participants shared experiences related to product use and digital platforms. The event included discussions on agriculture, technology and partnerships.
