Glyphosate Price Exceeds 30,000 Yuan per Ton, Herbicide Market Sentiment Rebounds

25 March 2026, Beijing: This week, the domestic herbicide technical market experienced a rare broad-based price increase, with core product prices rising simultaneously, significantly boosting market sentiment. According to monitoring data from China Agricultural Lihua Technical, as of March 23, 2026, the quoted prices of the three major herbicide varieties—glyphosate, glufosinate ammonium, and L-glufosinate—continued to rise, driving the entire herbicide sector upward and marking the official entry into a new cycle of industry prosperity.

In terms of specific quotations, the glyphosate technical market maintained its upward trend, with manufacturers adopting a cautious approach to shipments. The quoted price for 95% purity products reached 29,500 yuan/ton, while the 97% purity product surpassed the key level of 30,000 yuan/ton. Glufosinate ammonium technical manufacturers faced tight order schedules, with market quotations at 49,000 yuan/ton. Driven by the price increase of upstream glufosinate ammonium, the quoted price for L-glufosinate technical reached 59,000 yuan/ton on a converted basis.

I. Prices Break Key Levels, Boosting Industry Confidence

The 97% glyphosate technical price breaking through 30,000 yuan/ton is not only a significant price signal but also greatly boosts market confidence across the entire herbicide industry chain. The 95% purity product followed suit, rising to 29,500 yuan/ton, with the price gap between different purity levels remaining within a reasonable range. This indicates that the current price increase is supported by real supply and demand fundamentals, rather than short-term market speculation.

Currently, manufacturers are widely implementing a low inventory and controlled shipment strategy, rationally adjusting market supply to avoid excessive price volatility and providing stable support for the ongoing upward trend. Prices have now broken through the trading range of the past two years, and the industry’s price center is expected to shift systematically higher.

II. Smooth Industry Chain Transmission with Cost and Demand in Sync

This round of herbicide price increases demonstrates a clear upstream-downstream transmission logic, forming a synchronized upward trend across the entire industry chain. Glyphosate, as a core bulk herbicide, led the rally, directly driving up sentiment in the glufosinate ammonium market. Orders for glufosinate ammonium manufacturers are scheduled until mid-to-late April, with tight supply and demand conditions pushing quotations to 49,000 yuan/ton.

The price increase effect of glufosinate ammonium further transmitted to the L-glufosinate segment, driving its converted price to 59,000 yuan/ton. Looking at the transmission chain of glyphosate → glufosinate ammonium → L-glufosinate, this round of market movement is driven by multiple factors, including rising costs, recovering demand, and tightening supply, making the foundation of the rally more solid compared to single-product price increases.

III. Multiple Factors Support a Resilient Prosperity Cycle

Behind the broad-based price increase of herbicide technicals lies the combined support of three dimensions: supply, demand, and cost.

On the supply side, after previous adjustments, the industry has limited new capacity. Coupled with increasingly stringent environmental and safety production policies, effective supply is constrained. On the demand side, global emphasis on food security has increased, with planting areas stable or growing, maintaining rigid demand for herbicides. On the cost side, high prices of raw materials, energy, and logistics provide a solid bottom support for technical prices.

Meanwhile, the industry’s competitive landscape continues to optimize, with market share concentrating toward leading enterprises. The pricing power of high-quality, compliant capacity has further strengthened. The combination of these factors ensures that this round of industry prosperity has strong sustainability and resilience.

IV. High Prosperity Expected to Continue, Industry Moves Toward High-Quality Development

The breakthrough of glyphosate prices above 30,000 yuan/ton is a clear signal that the herbicide market has entered a new upward cycle. Industry views suggest that, against the backdrop of limited supply elasticity, stable demand, and high costs, the prices of glyphosate, glufosinate ammonium, and L-glufosinate technicals are likely to remain high with fluctuations.

Sustained high prices will accelerate industry structural differentiation. Leading enterprises with integrated industry chains, core technologies, and compliant capacity advantages will see significantly improved profitability and risk resistance, enabling them to capture greater development opportunities in this cycle.

Overall, the herbicide industry is gradually shifting from price competition to value competition, entering a healthier and more resilient phase of high-quality development.
