SAI Platform Launches Regenerating Together Programme to Advance Regenerative Agriculture Across Global Supply Chains

25 June 2026, Switzerland: SAI Platform (Sustainable Agriculture Initiative Platform) has launched the Regenerating Together Programme (RTP), a framework designed to support the implementation and scaling of regenerative agriculture across global food and beverage value chains.

The programme introduces a revised framework, implementation guidance, and transition support aimed at helping companies adopt regenerative agriculture practices across crop, beef, and dairy production systems. More than 40 food and agriculture companies, including Nestlé, Louis Dreyfus Company, McCain Foods, and Diageo, have signed a declaration of intent supporting the expansion of regenerative agriculture through the initiative.

The RTP was unveiled during SAI Platform’s annual member event in Saskatoon, Canada, and was also livestreamed during London Climate Action Week in collaboration with the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD).

Developed through consultation with farmers, agronomists, NGOs, academic institutions, and industry stakeholders, the voluntary programme addresses challenges facing global food systems, including climate change, biodiversity loss, soil degradation, water stress, and pressure on farm livelihoods.

At the centre of the programme is the Regenerating Together Framework, which provides a four-step process supported by implementation guidance applicable across different production systems and geographies. The framework is intended to provide a common approach for companies and farmers transitioning toward regenerative agriculture.

A key feature of the RTP is the introduction of independent third-party verification and benchmarking protocols. These mechanisms are designed to support consistency, transparency, and credibility in the assessment of regenerative agriculture practices while helping companies monitor environmental outcomes and demonstrate progress.

SAI Platform developed the programme in alignment with broader industry initiatives focused on sustainable food systems and regenerative agriculture. The organisation continues to collaborate with partners including WBCSD, Regen10, and EIT Food to promote interoperability and consistency across regenerative agriculture frameworks. Implementation partners such as Earthworm Foundation and The Nature Conservancy will support on-the-ground application and farmer engagement.

The programme follows more than four years of collaboration involving pilot projects across 23 production systems in 25 countries. According to SAI Platform, farmers played a central role in shaping the framework to ensure it remains practical and adaptable to different farming operations while reducing administrative complexity.

Commenting on the launch, Dionys Forster, Director General, SAI Platform, said the programme provides the food and agriculture industry with a practical foundation to support the transition toward more resilient supply chains and accelerate the adoption of regenerative agriculture at scale.

He added that broad industry collaboration behind the initiative demonstrates the importance of collective action in advancing regenerative agriculture and strengthening the long-term sustainability of global food systems.
