Minister Zhang Zhu Meets with German Federal Minister of Agriculture, Food and Regional Identity Alois Rainer
25 June 2026, China: Zhang Zhu, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China, met with Alois Rainer, Minister for Agriculture, Food and Regional Identity of the Federal Republic of Germany, and his delegation in Beijing on June 18.
Minister Zhang said that under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, practical agricultural cooperation between China and Germany has advanced steadily, and exchanges and cooperation in such areas as agricultural policy, agricultural S&T, and agro-trade have continued to deepen and delivered fruitful results. He said that China is willing to work with Germany, following the principles of open development, mutual benefit, and win-win cooperation, to strengthen communication through established mechanisms, give full play to the role of the Sino-German Agricultural Centre, deepen exchanges in agricultural S&T, further advance all-round agricultural cooperation to a deeper and more substantive level, and continuously deliver new results, thereby making greater contributions to the development of the China-Germany comprehensive strategic partnership.
Minister Rainer said that Germany attaches great importance to agricultural cooperation with China and stands ready to strengthen dialogue and communication with China and to deepen exchanges and cooperation in such areas as agricultural S&T, trade in agro-products, and animal disease prevention and control.
After the meeting, the two sides jointly signed the Memorandum of Understanding Between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Regional Identity of the Federal Republic of Germany on Further Advancing the Sino-German Agricultural Centre.
Zhang Zhili, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, attended the meeting.
