ISO Approves Triflupyroxazin as New Common Name for Herbicide Active Ingredient

16 June 2026, China: The ISO 1750 Maintenance Agency has announced the approval of triflupyroxazin as the ISO common name for a new herbicide active ingredient developed by Liaoning Cynda Chemical Co., Ltd.

The approval follows the provisional adoption of the name on 5 December 2025 for development code CDH22117, an N-phenylimide herbicide known in China under the common name 氟丙草嗪. As no objections were received during the consultation period, the name has now been formally approved and will be incorporated into a future edition of ISO 1750, which will include both preferred names and common names.

The active ingredient is chemically identified as: 3-[7-fluoro-3,4-dihydro-3-oxo-4-(2-propyn-1-yl)-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-6-yl]-1-methyl-6-(trifluoromethyl)-2,4(1H,3H)-pyrimidinedione (CAS No. 134554-02-2).

Triflupyroxazin joins the growing pipeline of herbicide innovations being developed to support weed management in modern agricultural production systems. Industry stakeholders will be monitoring future regulatory submissions, efficacy data, and market development plans associated with the new active ingredient.
