Pyrasulfotole is a pyrazolone herbicide belonging to the HPPD (4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase) inhibitorclass. It controls a broad spectrum of broadleaf weeds by disrupting carotenoid biosynthesis, causing characteristic bleaching symptoms and eventual weed death. It was one of the first major new herbicide modes of action introduced for cereal crops in many years and remains an important tool in resistance management programs.
