BASF Launches Balaya Fungicide for Cereals, Pulses and Canola in Australia
10 April 2026, Australia: BASF has launched Balaya® fungicide, a dual-active product designed to provide protection against a broad range of foliar diseases in cereals, pulses and canola.
Balaya combines the Group 3 active Revysol® with the Group 11 active F500 to control key foliar diseases, including Septoria tritici blotch in wheat and net blotches in barley. The formulation offers up to seven weeks of residual protection, helping growers manage disease pressure during important crop growth stages.
According to BASF, Revysol’s Group 3 technology supports resistance management by maintaining performance against key diseases, including strains with reduced sensitivity to older Group 3 fungicides. The F500 component also contributes crop health benefits such as reduced plant stress, improved greening, and more efficient nitrogen uptake and water use.
“Foliar diseases continue to challenge growers across a range of crops,” said Parvana Wali. “Balaya has been developed to fit into cereal, pulse and canola crops, helping growers maintain crop health while providing extended residual disease control compared with alternative fungicides.”
The company said Balaya also offers rotational flexibility and can be used as a first foliar spray following a Group 7 seed treatment, while maintaining in-crop disease control and reducing reliance on SDHI chemistry.
Balaya has been registered by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority for control of more than 20 foliar diseases across wheat, barley, oats, canola, faba beans and other pulse crops grown in Australian broadacre systems. The product is now available through BASF’s authorised distributors nationwide.
