ISO Approves ‘Fentiazoluron’ as New Common Name for Corteva Insecticide
25 March 2026, Geneva: The ISO 1750 Maintenance Agency has approved “fentiazoluron” as the official common name for a new insecticide developed by Corteva Agriscience. The approval was granted on 9 March 2026, marking another addition to the globally recognized nomenclature for crop protection molecules.
The chemical is identified as: [N′(Z)]-N-[2-fluoro-4-[1-[4-(trifluoromethoxy) phenyl]-1H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl]phenyl]- N ′-[3-[5-methyl-2-[(2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy) methyl] phenyl]-4-oxo-2-thiazolidinylidene] urea (CAS No. 2583740-14-9).
According to the ISO 1750 Maintenance Agency, no objections were received during the standard review period for the proposed name. As a result, “fentiazoluron” has now been formally adopted and will be included in the March 2026 update of the ISO 1750:2023 XML dataset.
The approved common name will also be used in French as “fentiazoluron” (nm).
This approval is an important step in standardizing terminology for new active ingredients, enabling clearer communication across regulatory authorities, industry stakeholders, and the global agricultural community.
