Nissan Chemical to Establish New Herbicide Manufacturing Facility in India for Global Ryzonic® Supply
05 June 2026, Japan: Nissan Chemical Corporation has announced plans to establish a new manufacturing facility in India dedicated to the production of its innovative herbicide Ryzonic® (iptriazopyrid). The facility will be set up at its consolidated Indian subsidiary, Nissan Bharat Rasayan Pvt. Ltd. (NBR), as part of the company’s strategy to support the anticipated global expansion of the product.
NBR was established in 2020 as a joint venture between Bharat Rasayan Ltd., one of India’s leading agrochemical manufacturers and marketers, and Nissan Chemical. The joint venture commissioned a manufacturing plant in Saykha, Gujarat, in March 2023 and has since been engaged in production operations.
The latest investment is aimed at creating a stable and scalable supply chain for Ryzonic®, a next-generation herbicide discovered and developed by Nissan Chemical. The company views the project as a key strategic initiative that will support future business growth while ensuring sufficient production capacity to meet rising global demand.
According to the company, construction of the new facility is expected to be completed and commercial operations are scheduled to commence during fiscal year 2028.
Ryzonic® is slated for commercial launch in 2027 across major agricultural markets, including Japan and India, before being introduced to additional countries worldwide. Through the expansion of its manufacturing capabilities, Nissan Chemical intends to strengthen its global supply network and enhance its position in the paddy rice herbicide segment.
While the project is not expected to have a significant impact on the company’s consolidated financial performance during the current fiscal year, management believes it will contribute positively to earnings growth over the medium and long term.
