EIMA International Strengthens Italy–Turkey Agricultural Machinery Trade Ties
09 April 2026, Rome: EIMA International continues to play a key role in supporting trade and technical cooperation between Italy and Turkey in the agricultural machinery sector, with both countries maintaining strong commercial engagement despite recent market fluctuations.
In 2025, Turkey remained one of Italy’s most important trading partners in this segment, with total bilateral trade approaching €500 million. Italian imports of agricultural machinery from Turkey increased by 19% over the past year, crossing €210 million. Meanwhile, Italian exports to Turkey stood at around €230 million. Although exports declined by nearly 20% compared to the previous year, they remained significantly higher than pre-pandemic levels.
The latest figures were presented in Konya, Turkey, during a press conference announcing the 47th edition of EIMA International, scheduled to take place in Bologna from 10 to 14 November 2026. The event is organised by FederUnacoma.
According to FederUnacoma, the decline in Italian exports was linked to a slowdown in Turkey’s domestic agricultural machinery market. Tractor sales in Turkey dropped by 36% last year, reaching around 40,500 units. Factors contributing to this decline include inflation, limited access to agricultural credit, and broader global economic uncertainty.
Despite these challenges, trade relations between the two countries remain stable. Italian manufacturers retained their position as Turkey’s leading suppliers in 2025, holding an 18.2% market share. At the same time, Turkish manufacturers expanded their exports to Italy, with turnover exceeding €210 million.
Looking ahead, market projections suggest a gradual recovery. According to Exportplanning, after a projected contraction of 5.6% in the current year, Turkey’s agricultural machinery imports are expected to return to growth between 2027 and 2029, with an average annual increase of 2.3%.
In this context, EIMA International is expected to further strengthen business engagement between the two countries. The exhibition features 14 product sectors and showcases over 60,000 models of machinery, equipment, and components for agriculture and gardening, catering to a wide range of farming systems—from small farms to large-scale operations.
The upcoming edition is expected to match or exceed previous participation levels. The last edition recorded around 1,750 exhibitors, including 675 international companies, and approximately 350,000 visitors, of which 63,000 were from abroad. Turkey was among the most represented countries, with 94 exhibiting companies and over 2,300 visitors. Similar participation levels are anticipated for 2026.
An official delegation of Turkish business representatives is also expected to attend the event in Bologna. The visit is being coordinated by the Italian Trade Agency (ICE), which supports internationalisation initiatives for Italian companies.
The 2026 edition will introduce new thematic areas alongside established showcases such as Energy, Components, Idrotech, Digital, and Green. New additions include EIMA Extend, focused on sector organisations, and EIMA Campus, dedicated to universities, research, and training institutions. These additions aim to highlight the growing importance of governance and capacity building in the agricultural machinery sector.
Infrastructure upgrades are also planned, including the opening of a new exhibition hall and improvements to outdoor demonstration areas. These spaces will host live demonstrations and competitions, including Tractor of the Year and robotics-focused showcases.
In addition, the event will feature the debut of the ADI Design Exhibit Award, organised in collaboration with the Italian Industrial Design Association, recognising excellence in exhibition stand design.
A comprehensive programme of around 150 events, including conferences, seminars, and workshops, will run alongside the exhibition. These sessions will focus on global agricultural trends, mechanisation strategies, and policy discussions relevant to the sector.
