Commenting on the results, Simon Wiebusch, Vice Chairman and Managing Director and CEO of Bayer CropScience Limited, said that uneven monsoon conditions in India affected sowing patterns and crop protection demand during the quarter, alongside lower corn acreage. Vinit Jindal, Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer, said profit after tax increased 9% in Q2 and 13% in H1. The improvement was supported by higher gross margins, reflecting favourable corn seed production yields and cost efficiencies.

He added that higher corn seed production volumes, coupled with weaker market demand, resulted in increased inventory. Delayed customer collections also led to marginally higher receivables amid liquidity pressures in the market. The company said it would continue to focus on working capital management and cash generation.
