19 July 2026, Rome : To mark World Food Safety Day 2026, the Iran National Standards Organization (INSO) organized a national webinar on 16 June 2026 under the global theme “From Burden to Solutions: Safe Food Everywhere.”
The webinar featured six expert presentations on key food safety topics, bringing together specialists in standardization, risk analysis, food safety and public policy. Discussions focused on practical approaches to reducing the burden of foodborne diseases and strengthening national food control systems in line with Codex Alimentarius principles.
In the opening session, speakers highlighted the critical role of technical regulations and standards in protecting public health, facilitating fair trade and strengthening consumer confidence. They also emphasized the importance of developing smarter, evidence-based and risk-oriented regulatory frameworks.
Other presentations focused on science-based risk analysis, including risk assessment, risk management and risk communication, as well as preventive measures throughout the food chain, such as Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), Good Hygiene Practices (GHP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
The webinar also addressed challenges related to pesticide maximum residue limits (MRLs), laboratory capacity, monitoring and surveillance systems, and the need to strengthen scientific evidence and technical infrastructure to support effective food safety policies.
The webinar reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to promoting risk-based food control systems and strengthening cooperation within the Codex framework to ensure safe food for everyone.
