On Day Four of ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Visits Meerut, Uttar Pradesh
02 June 2025, Uttar Pradesh: On the fourth day of the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, visited Dabhthuwa and Jangethi villages in Meerut district to engage directly with farmers.
In Dabhthuwa, the Minister interacted with local farmers, followed by an informal chaupal (village assembly) in Jangethi, where he sat on a traditional cot and held candid discussions with the farming community.
Addressing the media during his visit, Mr. Chouhan emphasized that his outreach—undertaken along with a team of agricultural scientists—is aimed at fostering direct dialogue with farmers. He underscored the importance of promoting advanced and sustainable farming practices through such grassroots-level interactions.
“The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan is focused on four key goals: boosting agricultural production, reducing input costs, ensuring fair market prices for farmers’ produce, and minimizing post-harvest losses,” Mr. Chouhan stated. He added that village-level engagement is crucial to understanding ground realities and shaping effective agricultural policies.
The campaign continues to build momentum as it travels across rural India, aiming to transform Indian agriculture through innovation, collaboration, and farmer-first policies.
