Corteva Names SpinCo Seed and Genetics Business as Vylor

06 May 2026, Indianapolis: Corteva has announced that the company expected to emerge from its advanced seed and genetics business, previously referred to as “SpinCo,” will operate under the new name Vylor, Inc. The company said the planned separation process remains on track for completion in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Vylor will be built around a significant intellectual property portfolio that includes more than 4,000 germplasm patents and over 2,000 biotechnology patents. According to the company, its research and innovation pipeline includes developments such as proprietary hybrid wheat technology, gene-editing capabilities, multi-disease resistance corn, and next-generation biofuels.

The future company said it plans to strengthen its core row crop business while also evaluating opportunities to expand into additional crop segments and adjacent agricultural sectors. The focus will remain on supporting farmers with technologies aimed at improving productivity, resilience, and sustainability.

The Vylor branding has been designed to reflect the company’s scientific and agricultural heritage. Corteva stated that the stylized “l” in the logo represents the negative space of a chromosome, symbolizing the role of genetics in modern agriculture. The brand’s color palette incorporates green, maroon, and blue tones inspired by the legacy of Pioneer, Brevant, Hoegemeyer, and Corteva brands. The name “Vylor” is derived from the word “valor,” recognizing the contributions of employees and farmers across generations.

“Vylor traces its roots back a century, to a single idea: that innovation could transform agriculture, and with it, the world,” said Chuck Magro. “From food security to energy security, powered by groundbreaking technology, elite germplasm and an advanced product portfolio, Vylor will be uniquely positioned to help solve some of the world’s toughest challenges.”

The company added that Vylor will begin operations with what it describes as the world’s largest seed production network, along with established market positions in key crop categories across multiple regions. Its portfolio will include globally recognized seed brands with strong market presence in corn, soybean, and other major crops.
