Hengde Qin Assumes Role as Syngenta Group CEO, Reaffirms Commitment to Farmers and Food Security
05 August 2026, Switzerland: Hengde Qin has officially assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer of Syngenta Group, marking the beginning of a new leadership chapter for the global agricultural technology company. In a message shared on LinkedIn, Qin emphasized his commitment to farmers, innovation, and sustainable food production.
Reflecting on his upbringing in a small farming village, Qin said his early experiences with farming families shaped his understanding of agriculture and reinforced his belief in its critical role in ensuring global food security.
He noted that agriculture faces mounting challenges from population growth, climate change, and limited natural resources, requiring the world to produce more food with fewer environmental impacts. According to Qin, helping farmers address these challenges remains the core purpose of Syngenta Group.
Qin described Syngenta Group as a company built on strong Swiss roots, a global outlook, scientific innovation, and a workforce united by the goal of delivering solutions for farmers. He said he intends to lead with humility, openness, and a willingness to listen, while maintaining close engagement with farmers, customers, partners, and employees.
Reaffirming the company’s strategic direction, Qin said Syngenta Group remains committed to supporting farmers, investing in innovation, and developing its people. He added that the company is well positioned to contribute to the future of agriculture by helping farmers improve productivity while reducing environmental impact.
Concluding his message, Qin said agriculture should be viewed through a long-term lens, noting that “the seeds we plant today will become tomorrow’s harvest,” a principle he said will guide his leadership as the company works to create lasting value for farmers and future generations.
