New FAO Webinar On Food Safety Management In Natural Disasters
22 April 2026, US: Natural disasters have caused around USD 3 trillion in agricultural losses over the past 30 years and continue to trigger public health crises linked to unsafe food and water. To address these risks, FAO is hosting a webinar on 7 May 2026, focused on managing food safety in natural disaster settings.
The event will feature country representatives sharing practical experiences and will highlight key challenges and lessons learned that can serve as models for others. Additionally, new FAO infographics and guidance for consumers facing natural disasters will be officially introduced.
Taking place in the lead-up to World Food Safety Day 2026 and its theme “From burden to solutions – safe food everywhere,” this discussion contributes to strengthening preparedness and response capacities in emergencies, and turning challenges into opportunities to build stronger, more resilient systems. The webinar is intended for food safety authorities, emergency management officials, NGOs, and food business operators. The event will be held in English via Zoom from 14:00 to 15:30 CEST.
