27 July 2026, New Delhi: Shriram Farm Solutions, a division of DCM Shriram Ltd., has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research–Indian Institute of Vegetable Research (ICAR-IIVR), Varanasi, for access to breeder seeds in five vegetable crops—radish, spinach, pea, cowpea and okra.
The agreement was signed on the occasion of the 98th Foundation Day of ICAR, in the presence of Union Minister for Agriculture, Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Under the MoU, Shriram Farm Solutions will receive breeder seed material developed by ICAR-IIVR.
The collaboration is intended to support the development of improved vegetable seed varieties by enabling the use of publicly developed breeding material in commercial seed programmes. The company will use the material to advance its vegetable seed portfolio for different agro-climatic conditions.
Sanjay Chhabra, Business Head, Shriram Farm Solutions, said the partnership would strengthen the company’s seed development pipeline and support the introduction of varieties aligned with farmer requirements.
The agreement also reflects ongoing efforts to link public-sector research with industry for wider dissemination of improved crop varieties.
