U.S. Farm Bill Moves Forward as House Agriculture Committee Clears Key Legislation
06 March 2026, Arlington: The U.S. House Committee on Agriculture has advanced the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026, moving the proposed farm bill to the next stage of the legislative process. The development marks an important step toward providing policy certainty for farmers and rural communities across the United States.
The legislation was advanced under the leadership of House Agriculture Committee Chairman Glenn “GT” Thompson, with industry groups describing the move as a significant step in strengthening the policy framework that supports the agricultural sector.
The Council of Producers & Distributors of Agrotechnology (CPDA) welcomed the committee’s approval of the bill, highlighting the importance of farm legislation in supporting farmers and the broader agricultural supply chain.
“A strong farm bill provides the foundation that farmers, rural communities, and the entire agricultural supply chain depend on,” said Terry Kippley, President and CEO of CPDA.
According to Kippley, the farm bill plays a key role in supporting agricultural programs ranging from risk management and conservation to research and innovation.
Kippley also noted that farmers depend on access to modern crop protection technologies to maintain crop productivity while working toward environmental and sustainability goals.
“Farmers need access to a wide range of proven crop protection tools and technologies to manage pests, protect yields, and continue producing the safe, affordable food that Americans depend on,” he said.
CPDA members develop, manufacture, and distribute a range of post-patent crop protection products, adjuvants, and enabling technologies used by growers across the United States. These products provide farmers with cost-effective options to protect crops, maintain productivity, and support responsible land stewardship.
Kippley also acknowledged the leadership of Chairman Thompson and the bipartisan efforts of the committee in advancing the legislation.
“After years of delay, farmers and rural America need the certainty that only a new farm bill can provide,” he said. “CPDA encourages Congress to build on this momentum and work quickly to pass a final farm bill that supports farmers, strengthens rural economies, and ensures the United States remains the global leader in agricultural production.”
Following approval by the committee, the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026 will now move to the U.S. House floor for consideration.
