India–EU Trade Agreement to Boost Agri-Inputs Exports, Says IIL MD Rajesh Aggarwal

28 January 2026, New Delhi: Following the conclusion of the India–European Union Free Trade Agreement, industry leaders have welcomed the development, highlighting its long-term positive impact on Indian manufacturing and agriculture.

Commenting on the agreement, Mr. Rajesh Aggarwal, Managing Director, Insecticides (India) Limited (IIL) and Vice-Chairman, Crop Care Federation of India, said the proposed India–EU FTA is a structurally positive step for Indian industry and a key value catalyst for investors. He noted that for the agri-inputs sector, improved access to the EU’s highly regulated and high-value markets could significantly enhance export opportunities, while gradual tariff rationalisation and regulatory alignment would help improve cost competitiveness.

Aggarwal said that Europe is already a priority market for IIL’s international business, and the FTA creates a clear pathway to scale operations in the medium term through faster product registrations and wider market access. From a financial perspective, he added that a higher-value export mix, better capacity utilisation, and sourcing efficiencies could support margin expansion and improve return ratios on incremental capital deployed.

He further emphasised that long-term trade frameworks such as the India–EU FTA provide greater demand visibility, enabling disciplined capital allocation, improved cash-flow planning, and reduced earnings volatility. With a strong domestic leadership position, an expanding global footprint, and a growing portfolio of differentiated and sustainable solutions, Aggarwal said IIL is well positioned to leverage the India–EU FTA to deliver consistent growth and superior long-term shareholder value.
