Fendt 500 Vario Gen4 — Up to 164 hp, First Compact Tractor with Independent 4WD
01 August 2026, Germany: The fourth-generation Fendt 500 Vario Gen4 is the first tractor in the compact standard-tractor class to offer VarioDrive independent four-wheel drive, alongside a tyre-pressure regulation system, Trailer Brake Assistant, drawbar lighting and a reversible cooling fan — features previously reserved for much larger machines.
Model range: 513, 514, 515 and 516 Vario, covering 134 to 164 hp (ECE R120 maximum power).
Standout feature — VarioDrive TA120: A single-stage drive with permanent, independent four-wheel drive removes the need to engage 4WD manually between road and field. Fendt Torque Distribution dynamically shares power between axles, and the pull-in turn effect delivers a smaller turning circle with full, tension-free tractive force.
Engine: The AGCO Power CORE50 engine drives all models, with Fendt DynamicPerformance releasing an extra 10 hp whenever PTO, fan, compressed air or air-conditioning demand requires it — independent of road speed or PTO use.
Key highlights:
- Payload of up to 4.9 t against an 11.75 t permissible overall weight
- Fendt iD low-speed concept: 1,300 rpm at 40 km/h, 1,600 rpm at 50 km/h
- Wear-free hydraulic auxiliary brake, Trailer Brake Assistant, automatic parking brake
- GroundVision drawbar lighting and parking-position front loader design
- Fendt Cargo and Cargo Profi front loaders with integrated weighing and a 3L-Joystick
- Winner: Fendt 516 Vario Gen4 named “Tractor of the Year 2026” (MidPower category)
Built for grassland, arable, vegetable and municipal operations that need a nimble, high-payload machine, the Fendt 500 Vario Gen4 brings flagship Fendt technology to the compact-tractor class.
