Richa Sharma Puri Joins CIMMYT as Asia Communications Manager

25 April 2026, New Delhi: The International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) has appointed Richa Sharma Puri as Asia Communications Manager.  She continues to be based in New Delhi, where till recently she served as Communications Specialist for Borlaug Institute for South Asia (BISA) for over four years. BISA is a collaborative initiative of CIMMYT & ICAR  and is dedicated to strengthening food and nutritional security in South Asia. In this new role she will lead strategic communications across the region, supporting efforts to advance sustainable agriculture and resilient food systems.

Richa brings over 18 years of experience in media and communications, with a strong track record of leading high-impact strategies for national and international nonprofits. Her expertise spans strategic engagement, internal and external communications, multimedia production, and narrative development that enhances institutional visibility and stakeholder engagement.

Richa holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Delhi and a master’s degree in social anthropology, equipping her with both analytical depth and a human-centered perspective in her communications approach.

“Storytelling is not just an art, but a powerful tool for connection and change,” said Richa Sharma Puri. “Stories have the power to connect, inspire, and create lasting change when told with purpose and authenticity.”

In her new role, she will focus on strengthening CIMMYT’s communications in Asia by shaping compelling narratives that highlight innovation in agriculture and foster meaningful engagement with diverse stakeholders.
