Rallis India’s Quarterly Profit Falls as Pricing Pressure Offsets New Product Launches

30 October 2026, Mumbai: Rallis India, the crop protection arm of the Tata Group, reported a 17 percent drop in net profit for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, even as its herbicide business grew sharply and the company rolled out four new crop protection products.

For the July to September quarter, Rallis posted revenue of 858 crore rupees, roughly flat against 861 crore rupees a year earlier, while profit after tax fell to 85 crore rupees from 102 crore rupees and EBITDA declined to 126 crore rupees from 154 crore rupees, a fall of about 18 percent. For the first half of fiscal year 2027 (April to September 2026), revenue rose 3 percent to 1,880 crore rupees and profit after tax rose 6 percent to 210 crore rupees, with EBITDA up 2 percent to 311 crore rupees.

Dr. Gyanendra Shukla, Rallis’ managing director and chief executive, said the company navigated “a disruptive business environment” during the quarter by focusing on portfolio and operational efficiencies, pointing to the first half gains as evidence the strategy is working even as the single quarter result softened.

Within the company’s domestic branded formulations business, herbicides were the standout performer, growing 16 percent during the quarter, which the company attributed to its Crop Care segment, which overall grew 4 percent. Rallis did not break out separate growth figures for its insecticide, fungicide or seeds businesses in its release.

The quarter’s results coincide with a new round of product launches aimed at insect pests, fungal diseases and weeds. The company introduced four products during the period: an insecticide named Silentra, a fungicide named Marcellus, a second fungicide named Blitox Super, and a herbicide named Trynage. Rallis did not disclose the specific crops, target pests or active ingredients for each product in its earnings release, a level of detail typically provided at dedicated launch events rather than quarterly results.

Rallis’ quarter mirrors a broader pattern across India’s agrochemical sector this year, in which several listed crop protection companies have reported muted or declining profit despite steady to growing revenue, as pricing for generic technical and formulated products remains under pressure both domestically and in export markets. Industry analysts have pointed to oversupply from Chinese technical manufacturers and uneven monsoon rainfall as key drags on realizations for Indian formulators this fiscal year.
